The coffin of Queen Elizabeth II is carried to the RAF aircraft at Edinburgh Airport, Scotland, Tuesday Sept. 13, 2022, for the final journey from Scotland in a Royal Air Force plane to London.

The Royal Air Force plane carrying Queen Elizabeth II‘s coffin arrived in London on Tuesday evening. The C-17 Globemaster plane arrived at the Northolt airbase at 6:54 pm local time after being flown from Edinburgh. The Queen’s daughter Princess Anne accompanied the casket on its journey.

Notably, the plane was recently used for aid missions in Ukraine. Prime Minister Liz Truss and Defence Secretary Ben Wallace were reportedly present at the airbase when the plane arrived. The longest serving British monarch died on Thursday.

The funeral service of Queen Elizabeth II will take place at London’s Westminster Abbey on September 19.
