Tupelo: A pilot has been flying an airplane over the city of Tupelo in Mississippi, US, in circles for hours and threatening to intentionally crash it into a WalMart store, confirmed police on Saturday.
In view of the threat, the Tupelo Police Department has got the WalMart and other nearby convenience stores evacuated and asked the citizens to stay on alert.

As per reports, the plane started circling from 5 am (local time) and was still in the air more than three hours later. Police said they have made contact with the pilot directly.

“Citizens are asked to avoid that area until an all clear is given,” the police said. “With the mobility of an airplane of that type the danger zone is much larger than even Tupelo.”

Law enforcement told the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal shortly after 8 am (local time) that the plane had left the airspace around Tupelo and was flying near a Toyota manufacturing plant in nearby Blue Springs.

Meanwhile, Governor Tate Reeves has asked all citizens to stay on alert. “State law enforcement and emergency managers are closely tracking this dangerous situation. All citizens should be on alert and aware of updates from the Tupelo Police Department,” he tweeted.
