Three people have been critically injured after being stabbed in North York on Friday afternoon.
Toronto police and paramedics were called to the area of Bathurst Street and Ellerslie Avenue, south of Finch Avenue West, around 3:30 p.m. for a stabbing.
Police say they received reports that a man and a woman were involved in an altercation and that the woman was later stabbed.
When officers arrived, they initially located two people without vital signs suffering from life-threatening injuries. Police say they later found a third victim with critical injuries.
There is no immediate word on their conditions.
Police say a man was taken into custody.
“We don’t believe anyone else is outstanding, so we don’t believe there’s a danger to the public or that area any longer,” Toronto police Const. David Hopkinson said.
The circumstances surrounding the incident are unknown. Police have closed the area for investigation.
